on the nose there are scents of super-ripe pineapple and guava rising over the honeysuckle and orange-blossom signatures of the Viognier, harmonizing beautifully with background fragrances of musk and pear from the Pinot Gris. The palate is voluptuous with tropical-fruit flavours, subtle fresh hints of lemongrass and spicy ginger.
SAAM Mountain Pinotage, Paarl, South Africa, 14%
Juicy tannins and ripe, dark, fruit with hints of vanilla. The aftertaste is long, fruity and very elegant.
Amalaya Blanco, Calchaqui, Argentina, 13.5%
A pale golden wine with greenish edges. Intense and complex on the nose with aromas of citrus, grapefruit, ripe stone fruit and a touch of minerality. On the palate this wine is medium bodied with a refreshing acidity, distinct mineral note and ripe fruit flavour.
Domaine Mas Barrau Cabernet Franc, Vin de Pays du Gard, Southern France, 13.5%
A wild ripeness of sweet scented fruit twinned with an edgy woodland perfume. The palate is incredibly long and very rich - scrumptiously juicy fruit and a slight leafy edge - totally unmissable!
Ruviano Verdicchio 2010, Marche, Italy, 12.5%
Pale lemony yellow appearance. Fresh, zesty, citrus aromas with a touch of nutty and stone fruit flavours. Gentle acidity on the palate with subtle herbal tones and a hint of wet stone.
Vista TR 2008, Tina Roriz, Beiras, Portugal, 13%
Fresh, lifted aromas with bright cherry and plum fruit. Rich, ripe and generous on the palate - with lots of dark and chewy fruit, good structure with no hard edges, and good length.
